His cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all wizards?

  1. Meanwhile Morgoth is busy disseminating his soul throughout the entire world in order to taint all of creation with his essence and mean that he cannot really be fully killed unless the world is destroyed (or something like that, I don’t remember how Arda Remade is supposed to work)

  2. Unlike virgin Voldemort, Chad Sauron is already an immortal being and cannot truly be killed. Destroying the Ring just eliminated most of his power and reduced him to a weak spirit or as Tolkien put it, “he will be maimed for ever, becoming a mere spirit of malice that gnaws itself in the shadows, but cannot again grow or take shape.”

  3. I was listening to a podcast and the host said the one of the best additions Harry Potter made to the fantasy world were horocruxes… wat

  4. Sauron didn’t make the one ring to protect himself from death; he was already an immortal demigod. Sauron made the One Ring to gain absolute dominion over the other 19 ring bearers, and through them, all of Middle Earth.

  5. Voldemort, however, forgot to put himself in objects that can only be destroyed in a heavily guarded volcano.

  6. The other day I found myself watching a YouTube vlogger watching LOTR for the first time. She kept pointing out how Harry Potter did this or that, referring to Gandalf as Dumbledore, etc. and it was driving me crazy because she didn’t seem to understand that LOTR came out decades before Harry Potter.

  7. Also, in Tales from Earthsea by le guin the main character is an orphan boy who goes to a boarding school for magically gifted youth, is then given a scar by the antagonist that burns every time he is near

  8. It’s called a phylactery. Neither Tolkien nor Rowling came up with this idea.

  9. One of many many things in Harry Potter that is just like something in LOTR

  10. (mild spoilers for the skit/episode)

“Tom, stop looking over my shoulder! There’s a whole set of essence instructions inside the envelope!”

  11. It’s inevitable that Hollywood will try to remake the Harry Potter movies.

I now know **exactly** how I want Voldemort to act. Thank you OP!

  12. There are a lot of *suspicious* similarities between LOTR and Harry Potter

  13. Currently re-reading through Harry Potter and don’t get me wrong I love them. But the amount of similarities are insane.

  14. K but wasn’t the casting the ring into the fire of mount doom all a big gamble? Do they know that it would even work?

  15. I just now noticed Tolkiens influence on modern fantasy.

  16. So your mistakes make one ring…. that mean i need to make more than one piece with my soul

  17. I mean the only thing the ring did was make him more powerful but took it MUCH longer for him to recover his power when the ring was destroyed so tbh I think he was better off without the ring.

    He was already immortal
