  1. They said in the extras that they felt it didn’t directly correlate with the whole story of the ring and getting it to Mordor.

    But they also said they didn’t deny his existence in the film universe, and that it could’ve happened when not told on film

  2. In the books it’s a little bit plot-holey when they are in Rivendell at the council of Elrond and they’re reasoning for not giving TB the ring is a bit wishy washy. I reckon it would’ve been a large point of controversy if it had been in the film, a little like the whole “take the eagles to Mordor argument” where the in universe reasoning is what it is but is a difficult to accept for some people.

  3. I think it was a good decision to cut him out. I cant imagine a singing jolly guy showing up in any of the movies once they leave Hobbiton.
